The aim of this project was to develop a 2D game based on a physical board game owned by John Muir. The game was based on a physical board game ‘Best Odds 3’. Best odds is played on a 5×5 grid with a 3 in the centre square. The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent by adding numbers to existing rows and columns in the grid making sure that the sum of every row and column is an odd number. The game is played with 10 x 1 tiles, 10 x 2 tiles and 5 x 3 tiles. The winner is determined on who has the most points when another move cant be played.
It was important that the game to be appealing to kids as it was planned to be introduced in primary schools as a gamification of learning technique to help kids learn and improve basic numeracy skills.
